The Howell Foundation will be holding its second Luncheon Seminar with the presentation “Bone Up: What you need to know about Osteoporosis in 2015″ with featured speaker Heather Hofflich, DO, FACE, Osteoporosis expert and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She will be talking about new concepts in diagnosis, treatments, and fracture prevention strategies.
About our Guest Speaker
Dr. Hofflich is a leading expert in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteopenia and osteoporosis. Her research interests include new therapies for the treatment of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. She has participated in two national clinical trials for osteoporosis.
She currently serves on the National Osteoporosis Patient Education Committee. She also runs the San Diego bone health support group for those interested in learning more about bone health and osteoporosis.
Dr. Hofflich was named a “Top Doc” in San Diego Magazine’s “Physicians of Exceptional Excellence” in 2012, 2013, and 2014 annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society.
As an associate clinical professor of medicine, Dr. Hofflich is involved in training medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, a distinction that recognizes her outstanding achievements in endocrinology. She is also a certified clinical densitometrist, which is a professional certification in the field of bone density.
Dr. Hofflich completed her fellowship training at UC Irvine College of Medicine and her residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center. She completed her internship at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Hofflich earned her medical degree at College of Osteopathic Medicine and her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. She is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, and enjoys hiking, biking, running and swimming.
