Many have heard the saying “curiosity killed the cat”. But could it be that curiosity is responsible for personal and professional growth? It might well be that it played a crucial role for individuals and corporations when they needed to re-invent themselves. Maybe we should ask Peg Neuhauser, published author, speaker, and Board Member of the Doris A. Howell Foundation.

“One of the most important traits for an individual to survive and thrive is curiosity- plain and simple curiosity. The people who do well throughout the eras of their lives are not necessarily the people who know everything. It’s those who are willing to accept that they don’t know the answers – and keep asking and looking and experimenting…” she comments in one of her key note speeches for the Howell Foundation.

Peg Neuhauser started PCN Associates in 1984 working as a business mediator, corporate culture consultant, and a speaker on burnout, conflict management, organizational culture, and coping with change. She has worked with clients in many industries including IBM, AARP, Oracle, and the American Hospital Association.

Peg has been invited to speak at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda in April. She is contributing to women’s health by sharing her experience in topics related to organizational culture and leadership. Recognizing the need to address women’s health issues at the basic level of research, and with a profound respect for women’s health, she helped launched the Speaker Service and the Health and Happiness Evening Series for the Doris A. Howell Foundation in 2012.

Recently the Health and Happiness Series held its fourth program on the topic “An Integrative Approach to Stress Management: Reducing Stress and Increasing Happiness” by Tahir I. Bhatti M.D. and Carole Banka Ph.D. The Howell Evening Series is a unique, thought provoking series that focuses on a research- based, holistic approach to health and wellness and provides practical information that women and their families can use every day.
On being involved with the Howell Foundation, she comments: “When I moved to San Diego in 2011, I was invited to join the board of a Howell Foundation. It does great work in the area of health research and education for women and their families. The founder Doris Howell M.D. has been a dear friend of mine for many years, and it is an honor to serve on the board.

“I have been in business for 30 years. I love my clients and the work. I decided in 2012 that I had reached the fortunate position financially that I have enough. I wasn’t ready to retire completely, so I kept work but retired from making money. From that point on, the fees I earn go to the Howell Foundation. I have seen first-hand that this foundation puts its money to great use in the promotion of better health for women and their entire families, so it’s been wonderful to be one of the many Friends of Howell who is helping the foundation grow and be able to do more.”
